Having delivered the first BRC Global Standard for Food Safety Issue 7 Courses for 2015 I realised how significant the changes to the standard are.
The changes clearly reflect the retailer’s mind-set and what they expect from the supply chain. Supply chain management is where Food Safety is at and the two new fundamental additions reflect this fact; Supplier Management and Product Labelling.
The new BRC participate website is interesting and very clever from a cost point of view, standards can now be downloaded free for a yearly subscription of £95. The issue of broker and agents is being challenged so that supply chain integrity is being maintained.
And what is ‘Ambient High Care’? A bit of a contradiction for your conventional food scientist but the world is changing!!
