The Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Biological Agents) Regulations 2013 (SI No. 572 of 2013) set down the minimum requirements for the protection of workers from the health risks associated with biological agents in the workplace. The regulations must be applied to any activity where workers are actually or potentially exposed to biological agents as a result of their work.

This one-day course will be of interest to personnel who are involved in activities that involve occupational exposure to biological agents. It is available for In-House only.

  • Types and properties of biological agents found at work
  • Overview of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Biological Agents) Regulations 2013 (SI No. 572 of 2013) and the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Chemical Agents) Regulations 2001 (SI No. 619 of 2001)
  • Overview of the associated Codes of Practice published by the HSA
  • Assessment and control of risk from deliberate and non-deliberate exposure to biological agents at work
  • Operational control of biological agents including the use of PPE
